Information-theoretical analysis of index searching: Revised
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present an information-thoeretical viewpoint for similarity-based retrieval along with index structures. This retrieval system has two stages: pruning data items based on the index structures, and matching surviving data items. The first stage is modeled as the Wyner-Ziv problem, while the second stage is considered as a coding problem where some of the decording results are available as partial side information at both the encoder and decoder. We clarify upper and lower bounds of the optimal retrieval performance. This also implies certain relationships between retrieval parameters and performance. Keywords— index searching, multiterminal source coding, rate-distortion theory, cascading, feedback

متن کاملDominating-Set-Index based Searching Algorithm in Mobile P2P Networks
Because of the isomorphism between P2P networks and mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), many research communities are focusing on the work based on the combination of P2P and the backbone strategy, and this produces a field called mobile peer-to-peer (MP2P) networks. An effective algorithm for searching and retrieving information has proven to make a great impact on the performance of MP2P systems....

Objective: The aim of this study was to examine the roles of sensory processing sensitivity and information processing styles in predicting clinical symptoms in drug-dependent individuals. Method: The current study was correlational-descriptive. The statistical population included all drug-dependent individuals referred to addiction treatment centers in Tabriz. Among them, 290 people were selec...
متن کاملComparison of Bibliographic Databases in Retrieving Information on Telemedicine
Background & Aims: Some of the main questions which can be of importance for those researchers who intend to perform a systematic review in a field of science are: ‘What databases should I use for my review?’; ‘Do all these databases have the same value?’; and ‘Which sourcesretrieved the highest of relevant references?’. The main aim of this work was the identification of the best database for ...
